How to crochet - Reduce stitches in a round (dec)

If you are making a 3D crochet construction such as an amigurumi toy, you will need to reduce the stitches (dec) in some of the rounds to form a shape. This is how you do it:

Insert the hook into the 1st and 2nd
sc stitches of the previous round.
Three loops on the hook.
Yarn over the hook.
Pull yarn through the first 2 loops.
Two loops remain on the hook.
Yarn over the hook.
Pull yarn through the
remaining two loops on the hook.
You've now reduced two sc stitches
into one sc stitch.
Continue to sc or dec

according to the pattern.
